DECA Queen's 2008.

This past weekend I was in Kingston, Ontario at Queen's University for their annual DECA invitational conference. All in all, it was a very fun experience, and although DECA U is ridiculously smaller in size compared to DECA back in high school, it allowed all the delegates from every University to get to know each other personally. Despite the six hour bus ride from Western to Queen's, we still managed to make it on time for the wine and cheese mixer on Friday night. Later that night, we wrote our written exams and went out to the Ale House Bar/Club afterwards. The rest of the weekend consisted of oral competitions, semi-formal dinner at University Club followed by casino night, and intense conversations between delegates at each school.  The battle between the business schools (Ivey/Schulich/Rotman) seemed to be a never-ending topic, especially amongst the boys.  In the end, it was a good weekend, and as much as I'm down with the WESTERN PRIDE, Queen's really did impress me.

On another note, my roomie and I went on a HUGE shopping spree yesterday and we also watched Twilight.  Exams are nearing so soon and I'm dreading them, but ironically, so is my birthday.  I think this is the first year I haven't started counting down to my birthday, but really, I don't think I'll be doing anything special.  It'll be my first low-key birthday in years, and I think I'm fine with that :)

CS programming and muffin cravings.

One. I've been neglecting my Livejournal lately, but I really want to update more often. I know I say that all the time, but hopefully this time it's different. Not that my life is exciting at any means, but sometimes, I just need to let it go and writing is my favourite outlet.

Two. Life has been... interesting, to say the least. I'm doing decent in school (nothing worth complaining over anyway), and as far as academia goes, I actually have a lot of motivation and drive this year and I'm happy for myself. There was a "Computer Science Idol" competition in my Comp Sci class and I won first place from a poster I slapped together in literally 20 minutes. On the topic of computer science, I'm thinking of taking another CS course next semester but I'm skeptical of whether or not I should take the risk. It's a beginner's Java/object-oriented programming course, but I have absolutely no Java programming experience and I don't want to screw myself over. Do any of you know how manageable Java fundamentals are? I just don't want to jump into a class without knowing what I'm getting myself into.

Three. A couple of my friends from back home visited Western this weekend and if I had to sum it up in two words, I'd say it was: fucked. up. I'll probably write more about this in a friends only/filtered entry a little later, but if anything, the weekend definitely didn't unfold how it was expected to.

Four. I'm craving muffins all the time. What the heck.
