My new Burton baby.

The last week has been pretty typical, with the exception to Chinese New Year. I celebrated with both my mom and dad's side last weekend, and ended up with $600 in red pocket money! In addition, I was also surprised to get a new snowboard from my cousin as a late birthday gift :)

Woooo, this is my new baby :) I also got new boots for them too! I'm hoping to do some boarding during the March Break.

OBA Music Festival and American Idol.

Yesterday, the senior concert band went to the OBA Music Festival and we placed Silver. Lately, I've been unbelievably, unusually and indescribably happy! Everything has been going oh-so-well (with the exception to Biology, but what's new?) and I've been loving life to bits and pieces. To make things better, Chinese new year is this weekend, which means... time to get money! I am walking into this weekend with a toonie in my pocket, and I will be leaving with hopefully a couple hundred more :)

On another note, I am so excited for this Idol season (for those of you who know I am IDOL-CRAZY)! These three guys are my early favourites, but of course, they could change depending on performance night. None of the girls are striking out to me as of yet, but hopefully they will prove me wrong.

This year, it wasn't so bad.

But what I really think, is that we should have a holiday for the day after Valentine's Day.
I mean, what's better than half-priced chocolates and cinnamon hearts?

On another note: I'm really sick and I wasn't planning on going to school today, but I was still skeptical (because I didn't want to miss Math and Bio). I woke up this morning and it turns out that it's a SNOW DAY and all schools were cancelled. :)

Weekend updates.

So the last couple days have been pretty damn sweet.

FRIDAY
After school we went to Club Oasis to sing some karaoke (we are sooo Asian, ha ha). Lots of fun, stupid moments, tears from laughter... you know the drill. A little more than three hours later, we went to Sushi Tei for dinner. We walk in, and after sitting down we decided we didn't want to eat there anymore. I know, how embarrassing. So we were planning on placing ONE order, splitting it, and then leave and go to Umi Sushi. Instead, one of my friends talked to the lady (who was very, very, very nice), and she let us go. Oh my. It was really embarrassing, but the lady was really nice and it made us feel so horrible. So we did end up going to Umi Sushi in the end, and we had all-you-can-eat. By the end of it all, we were stufffffed, and took the transit home. I hate taking the transit at night because the busses rarely come, resulting in FROZEN BUTTS. Lots of amazing girl talks that night though. You girls are too funny!

SATURDAY
I had Chinese school in the morning, which just ruins my Saturday mornings entirely. We got to go down to the cafeteria for the Chinese New Year celebration though, and that means.... FREE FOOD. Other than that, it was boring (really, really, really boring). I was supposed to go to my friend Valerie's birthday gathering that night as well, but in the end, I didn't end up going :(

SUNDAY - MIDNIGHT
Let's just call this the most amazing party I've EVER been to. It was Paul's 18th birthday bash, and it was out of this world. It started at midnight and ended around 5am. There was lots and lots and lots (you have no idea) of juiiiice. He rented a huge chocolate fountain and a bubble/smog machine. (This is also when you know you're rich, hahaha) There was crazy string and glowsticks everywhere in addition to a freakin' BALLOON DROP (black and white balloons falling from the centre of his stairs at exactly midnight). There was also a wild whipped cream fight (oh, you should have seen the pile of empty whipped cream tubes at the end). Lots of nice talks on the one and only rooftop and resolving a broken relationship with a certain someone. What can I say. It was the most amazing thing ever.

Second semester is starting to get hectic. Music, is of course lots of fun, and I can easily say the same for Writer's Craft (regardless that I literally have no friends in the class). Functions and Biology, on the other hand, are not-so-cool. I had my first math "quest" on Friday, and I'm having my first Biology quiz on Tuesday. Seriously, who really cares about flagellas, microfilaments and endoplasmic reticulums? I'm definitely not looking forward to studying all these cell parts and functions. The vocabulary is overwhelming, and it's just the beginning :( Hopefully the units to come will be more interesting.

Billy Talent, Rise Against, Anti-Flag, Moneen.

So, it was a really, really, really good show. It sucked that we didn't get floor admission, but our seats weren't entirely bad either. The photos SUCK, but oh well. You can barely see the members of the bands, and the only real difference is the colour of the lighting on the backdrop.

MONEEN

Their set was fairly disappointing in general.
I was definitely expecting a lot more from them, but they weren't HORRIBLE either.

ANTI-FLAG

Definitely, definitely, definitely impressed. Coming into this show, Anti-Flag was ranked last on my list for the night, and they definitely proved me wrong. They kicked Moneen's ass, and played a GREAT set. They really got the crowd going.

RISE AGAINST

The sole reason why I wanted to go to this show was for Rise Against, as I had missed them at Warped and I really, really, really wanted to see them. I WAS NOT LET DOWN. Amazing. Amazing. Amazing. They played an amazing set. Almost 50 minutes long.Reaaaaally got people going. They are definitely near the top of my "best live bands" list.

BILLY TALENT

My first time seeing Billy Talent live was in August at Warped, and since then, I think they improved a lot. They also played a good set. Interchanging songs from both albums was a good idea.

Bittersweet exam break.

+ Shopping at Square One, watching Alpha Dog, and eating Pho and green tea ice cream the Saturday after exams. Walking around aimlessly and waiting forever for the bus to come (damn weekend transit schedules).

+ Ice Skating at Mississauga City Hall and All-You-Can-Eat Sushi for lunch.

+ Movie marathon. We watched Just Friends, Love Actually, Little Miss Sunshine, American Pie 5: The Naked Mile and The Holiday. We made waffles and pancakes for dinner and we had a pudding fight (we're soooo mature).

Tomorrow is the start of a new semester, and...

THE BILLY TALENT CONCERT W/ RISE AGAINST, MONEEN AND ANTI-FLAG.
